No Boundaries to Success

No Boundaries to Success

What you can expect

Learning with Clarity and Power

Every person is an innate learner, but environmental and neurodevelopmental factors often get in the way and prevent someone from reaching their full potential. Based on 35 years of experience working with people who learn differently, I help individuals and families develop a clear sense of purpose and goals, and provide intensive support for developing the learning strategies and skills required to meet those goals.

Individually Tailored to Meet Your Needs

It's a truism that individuals who learn differently are like snowflakes, each one unique in their strengths and potential. Beginning with a free, intensive consultation, we will create an individualized plan for development and success, using a strength-based model that I've seen work with thousands of students in my career as a teacher and educational leader. The process is comprehensive and collaborative, and it is based on the belief that learning is liberating and fun.

Educational Compassion and Care

My years of experience have taught me how much frustration, pain, and even hopelessness may underlie challenges in learning. I believe deeply that teaching should always be compassionate and caring, and that the goal is empowerment and life-long learning. So much human potential is lost because of learning challenges. It does not have to be.

What People Say about maclean gander

Our son had done incredibly well in school for years - straight A's, top of the class, 800 on his verbal SAT. And yet, he encountered major academic difficulties shortly after starting college, to the point that he had to withdraw from school. He was subsequently diagnosed with non verbal learning disorder, and one of my colleagues knew Mac and recommended we reach out to him for help. Mac is an amazing, insightful tutor for someone with a learning disability. He had a complete grasp of our son’s underlying intellectual issues, and was able to design effective strategies for him. Years later, my son still uses them. We may have hired Mac as our son's tutor, but he was more than that. Mac guided our family through a very difficult time with great skill. He helped our son develop short and long term plans, and helped us all to work together to find the best paths forward. He has made a tremendous difference in our lives, and  we are all so grateful to him for his help.

Throughout my life, I have had a few teachers that made a lasting impression on me but none can compare to one.  Dr. Maclean Gander is the ultimate exemplification of what it means to be a teacher.  He made me believe in my capacity to write after years of struggling with it in college..... Being a young woman of African American descent in a sea of men, I have sometimes felt my words are not valued in discussion.. Dr. Gander has the unique ability of making each student feel like an individual whose perspective and mere presence is valuable to our collective academic enrichment.

Mac worked with both of my children over several weeks to enhance their readiness for the writing portions of the SAT and ACT. Both of them have been diagnosed with learning differences. After meeting with them to discuss strategy and practice testing, their confidence and achievement soared. My youngest child actually earned a perfect score in the writing section of the SAT. Mac combines his understanding of pedagogy, brain science, student behavior, and standardized testing with patience, empathy, and humor. It’s a great combination.

Working with Mac was one of the greatest opportunities I had as an undergrad. From his academic tutelage to real-world experience with him as colleagues at a newspaper, my career trajectory was really enhanced by the time spent learning from him and later working alongside him.

Landmark College would probably not still be around if you had not played such important roles over the decades and from essentially the beginning.  Your legacy is not only countless young people whose lives were enriched and minds were expanded and skills enhanced, but a belief that Landmark College provides the solution to challenges...
